Meet Adam Merrett, our Hamilton-Halton Franchisee.

After achieving his MBA and establishing a successful career in corporate banking, Adam Merrett decided to make a big change! Even with a great job, Adam knew that he could be more fulfilled, live a healthier lifestyle and just be happier in general as an entrepreneur.

Independently he examined many different business opportunities and possibilities, and did not initially consider a franchise system until he met a business consultant who introduced him to the potential. When together they came across Pop-A-Lock Adam immediately knew that this was the business for him. There was a gap in the market regarding dependable locksmithing services and an upgrade in the industry was long overdue.

Given that the very nature of the business is to help people by providing safety and security Adam also knew that this was a business he could stand behind proudly. Because the franchise was also relatively new to Canada, Adam was also attracted to the opportunity to truly have an impact on the growth and functions of his franchise location.

Now, reflecting back on the journey to date, Adam describes the best part of belonging to a franchise organization as “having the opportunity to work with an incredible team every day.” He says that he has “gained more than business partners, but also good friends.” An added bonus that he did not expect to discover when signing on the dotted line.

When it comes to the Pop-A-Lock franchise, Adam says that he benefits most from “a business model that is not only focused on helping clients, but also each other and working together to see everyone succeed. Pop-A-Lock franchisees find a collective strength within the team. ”

If you’ve been considering becoming a franchisee or even tackling entrepreneurship solo, Adam has some advice for you; “Be prepared. Do it – but be prepared. It can be scary, but if you believe in yourself as well as the business then you should absolutely take the leap of faith. It’s worth it.”
