Commercial buildings are empty but still require maintenance
Timely article this morning in the Globe & Mail. Pop-A-Lock Security Professionals are using all the necessary precautions in the workplace.  We have not stopped providing services to customers and clients. Maintenance and repair services necessary to manage the safety and security of properties and buildings has been deemed an essential service and is still available during COVID-19. We're taking many precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients and employees, including educating our staff on Public Health recommendations, implementing a "no touch" policy and closely monitoring the health of our employees.

Insightful article this morning about the state of commercial buildings; facilities, retail, office buildings and warehouses. To all property and facility managers, this is the time to ensure you have adequate physical security controls in place. Just yesterday, we received a call to develop a master key system and install across multiple provinces in Canada. The request was from a large group of Dental Clinics.

A master key system provides the both security and convenience. Keys are provided to the right people in the organization and maintained with managed records who and where keys have been assigned. The system includes high security keys and locks that are pick and drill resistant. Restricted keys cannot be copied without permission.

Other considerations:
  • Interlockers to protect exterior doors from vandalism and break-ins
  • Door closer maintenance to ensure they are functional
  • Fire door hardware that meets requirements and is functional (self-closing, self-latching)
Every business is a HEALTH business. Health is now an everyday preoccupation beyond anything we have seen. There will be a rise in products that will play a role in the "health economy"; smart locks, door operators - low to no touch options.
